Shaped like a curved crescent, this sickle cell model is cut open lengthwise to reveal the stiff hemoglobin fibers packed inside. Long, segmented strands run along the cell, bundled and bumpy, with clumped knots where the fibers twist together. The outer shell is smooth and thick, so the cutaway edge frames the interior clearly. Display it with a normal red blood cell to show the contrast, or use it in a cell biology lesson about sickle cell disease and how hemoglobin polymerizes.
