A Kv1 voltage-gated potassium channel is shown as four subunits packed around a central selectivity filter. The filter is the narrow ladder-like strand running down the middle. Ribbed helical coils line the outer columns, and lumpy, knotted domains cap the top and bottom ends. The ribbed and organic surfaces give the piece a strange sci-fi look while still reading as a protein. Display it as decor, pair it with other ion channel models, or use it to talk through how potassium ions pass through cell membranes.
