Sleek and low in the water, this Type VIIB U-boat sits surfaced with its full wartime silhouette intact. A railed conning tower carries a raised periscope and anti-aircraft gun, while a deck gun points forward over a deck lined with railings, hatches and cleats. Bulging saddle tanks run along the flanks, a net cutter wire sweeps up from the bow, and twin propellers with rudders and dive planes finish the stern. A fine centrepiece for a WWII naval shelf, a convoy wargame table, or a history display about the Atlantic submarine war.
