Cut as a rectangular slab, this Arabidopsis leaf cross section shows the cell layers inside a thale cress leaf. A tidy row of epidermis cells runs along the top, tall palisade cells packed with chloroplast granules stand beneath, rounded spongy cells fill the middle around a vein, and stomata open in the lower layer. Realistic and crisp in relief, it serves botany and plant biology lessons on photosynthesis and leaf structure, and looks great on a classroom display.
