A cell in telophase of mitosis pinches inward at the cleavage furrow, forming the classic figure-eight shape just before it splits in two. Each half holds a reforming nucleus with coiled chromatin inside a dotted envelope, surrounded by mitochondria, stacked membranes and scattered vesicles.
