A sarcomere cutaway shows the repeating unit of muscle, with thin actin filaments and thick myosin filaments laid out in parallel rows. The myosin carries tiny heads that reach toward the actin, Z discs cap each end of the unit, and fine titin strands link the structure together. Layered outer tissue wraps the open block. Realistic and densely detailed, it is a strong anatomy or physiology teaching model for explaining muscle contraction, a study aid for students or a display for a science classroom shelf.
