Cut open to show its interior, this pancreatic acinar cell model is shaped like a rounded pyramid with its nucleus near the broad base. Stacked folds of rough endoplasmic reticulum curve around the nucleus, a Golgi stack sits above, and bean-shaped mitochondria with inner ridges dot the sides. A cluster of round zymogen granules fills the narrow top, where a few spheres float free above small surface projections. It makes a clear teaching model for a cell biology classroom or a striking piece on a science display shelf.
