Cut away along its back, this tardigrade water bear reveals the organs packed inside its plump body. Stylet mouthparts, a sucking pharynx, the midgut and clusters of round storage cells are all on show. The ribbed, wrinkled outer skin wraps around the opened section, and stubby legs end in long hooked claws. The head points downward with the sharp stylets visible at the mouth. It stands on its own legs without a base. A memorable biology model for classrooms, microscopy fans and anyone who loves the toughest tiny animal on Earth.
