Archelon, the giant prehistoric sea turtle, glides forward with its head raised and its hooked beak open. Four long paddle flippers spread wide, and a short pointed tail trails behind. The back carries a prominent central ridge with rows of rib-like ridges fanning out to a rough, bumpy shell rim, while the neck shows deep skin folds and the face has a carved eye and nostrils. The underside is solid and smoothly textured with fine wrinkles. It makes an eye-catching display piece for a paleontology shelf, a classroom desk or a prehistoric ocean diorama.
