Nose to the ground, the nine banded armadillo forages forward on short clawed legs. Flexible bands of armor wrap its middle between dimpled shield plates over the shoulders and hips, the long tapering tail is ringed in segments, and a narrow snout leads below large upright ears. The animal stands on its own feet with no base. Great for biology lessons on armored mammals, a desert or prairie tabletop scene, or a charming addition to an animal display shelf.
