Strung like beads on a twisted cord, this chromatin fiber shows how DNA packs itself inside the nucleus. Five plump nucleosomes line up in a gentle diagonal, each one a cluster of histone core lobes wrapped by ribbed coils of DNA, with short twisted linker strands joining them and trailing off at both ends. The organic, wrapped texture makes the folding easy to see and touch. A great hands-on model for a biology classroom or a science lover's display shelf.
