Studded with tiny granules, the neutrophil cutaway reveals a white blood cell sliced open to show its segmented nucleus. Rounded nucleus lobes fold across the centre, surrounded by fine cytoplasmic granules of many sizes, all held within a lumpy, ruffled membrane rim. The disc-shaped specimen has no base and reads clearly from the open face. A useful model for cell biology and immunology lessons on how the body fights bacteria, or for a microscopic-life collection on a classroom display shelf.
