An Antarctic krill cutaway reveals the inner anatomy of the small crustacean that feeds whales, seals and penguins. One side of the shell is opened to expose the bulging digestive gland, while long antennae sweep forward from the head. Beneath the body hangs the feathery feeding basket of bristled legs, followed by rows of swimming pleopods under the segmented abdomen. Free-standing with no base, it works as a classroom teaching model for marine biology or a striking specimen on a science display shelf.
