A tenrec padding forward on four short legs, covered in coarse overlapping spines from the shoulders to the rump. The long pointed snout carries a fine set of whiskers, with small round ears, a tiny nose and an alert eyed face. Each foot ends in splayed toes with little claws, and the body sits low and rounded in a stepping stride caught mid-motion. The dense spiny coat gives a rich surface texture that rewards a close look. It makes a charming display piece for a shelf, a desk, a nature diorama or a classroom animal collection.
