A baby mammoth calf strides forward in this sculpted figure, one foreleg lifted and its trunk curling down in front of its face. The whole hide is covered in deep wrinkles and shaggy creases, with small rope like bands wrapped around the ankles and tiny tusk nubs near the mouth. Small ears sit on the sides of a rounded head and a short tail trails behind the sturdy body. The feet have clean, slightly hollowed soles and the body is solid throughout. It suits a prehistoric diorama, an ice age display shelf or a classroom collection of extinct animals.
