A muscular Spartan hoplite stands ready with a long spear upright in his right hand and a broad round shield on his left arm. His crested Corinthian helmet hides most of his face, while a sculpted cuirass, a pleated battle skirt, greaves and laced sandals finish the classic Greek warrior look. The tall spear ends in a leaf-shaped blade, and the clenched fist behind the shield gives him a steady, braced stance. He works well as a hero or rank-and-file fighter in an ancient-world tabletop game, or as a proud piece on a history display shelf.
