A walking Desmatosuchus sculpted mid-stride, with a long curved spike sweeping out from each shoulder. Rows of studded osteoderm plates run along its back from neck to the tip of a long tapering tail, and smaller spikes line its flanks. The low, sprawling legs end in clawed feet, and the blunt, piglike snout gives the armored reptile a distinctive face. It stands without a base, ready for a prehistoric diorama, a fossil collection shelf, or a classroom display about Triassic life.
