A gently curving chain of cells forms this cyanobacteria filament, one of the oldest photosynthetic life forms on Earth. Each rounded, barrel-like cell is packed with bubbly internal texture suggesting thylakoid bands, while a larger, smooth, spherical heterocyst sits in the middle of the strand. The clear segmented outline makes cell division and specialization easy to see. Use it in microbiology, ecology or earth history lessons, or display it among other microscopic life models.
