Head lowered and mane bristling along its spine, this striped hyena walks forward with a heavy, deliberate gait. Tall pointed ears, a broad muzzle and a stern gaze give it a serious presence, while sculpted ridges trace the barred markings across the body and legs. The sloping back rises to strong shoulders, and every toe on the large paws is clearly defined. Accurate enough for a biology class on carnivores or African and Asian wildlife, it also stands well on a natural history shelf or among other predators in a display.
