An amphibian embryo cross section shows the three germ layers, the neural tube and the large yolk mass in one domed disc. A thin bordered rim of ectoderm and mesoderm wraps the edge, the neural tube sits at the top as a small folded groove, and the broad yolk-filled endoderm fills the center with a dense dimpled texture. Fine segmented bands trace the layers around the curve. A strong teaching piece for embryology and developmental biology, and a decorative specimen for a science display shelf.
