VTK and PLY are both research formats, and moving a Visualization Toolkit surface into MeshLab, CloudCompare or Open3D means switching to Stanford's Polygon File Format. The VTK to PLY Converter writes the VTK mesh as PLY in the browser, free, with nothing uploaded. The surface can then be smoothed, decimated or compared with scan data. Only geometry carries across. A smoothed result can head to 3D printing as a 3D Print STL File, written by StarForge 3D Modeling Software.
