The Visualization Toolkit format from Kitware carries surfaces out of ParaView, 3D Slicer and scientific or medical pipelines, such as bone or organ models segmented from CT and MRI scans, and those surfaces are often noisy and open. VTK Repair fills holes, joins overlapping and intersecting pieces and remeshes the data into one watertight, decimated solid.
