STL Sundial Generator StarForge 3D Modeling Software
Garden Sundial Set to Your Town
A sundial only tells time when its gnomon matches the local latitude, which is why the STL Sundial Generator starts with a town found through OpenStreetMap place search. It sets the gnomon to that latitude and spaces raised hour lines by tan(angle) = sin(latitude) x tan(15 degrees x hours from noon), on a dial of typed size. STL, the Stereolithography mesh, then goes straight into any slicer. StarForge 3D Modeling Software downloads a 3D Print STL File for 3D printing a garden or patio sundial that reads true once pointed at true north, or true south below the equator.
