MeshLab and CloudCompare treat PLY, the Polygon File Format from Stanford, as their everyday mesh, which makes the PLY Trivet useful for measuring, comparing or analysing the pattern geometry outside a slicer. Each trivet is a 5 mm plate in a round, square or hexagon Shape, with a Hex, Wave or Mandala Pattern raised 2 mm and 6 mm feet underneath; Size is the third pick. StarForge 3D Modeling Software also writes the trivet as a 3D Print STL File for 3D printing, laid upside down so the feet print without supports, a sturdy stand for hot dishes on quartz.
