IGES Flat Base Cutter StarForge 3D Modeling Software
Flatten the Bottom of Old CAD Parts
Initial Graphics Exchange Specification files, the IGES format first published in 1980, still come out of older CAD and CAM systems, Rhino and many supplier archives as surfaces rather than closed solids. The IGES Flat Base Cutter reads such a file locally, and when the shell is open the Repair Fix Remesh pipeline closes it before anything is cut. The page then finds where the underside becomes a solid footprint, shows the cut plane for 0.1 mm nudging, and Cut Base caps it flat. With StarForge 3D Modeling Software the legacy part becomes a 3D Print STL File that sits level for 3D printing.
