Hollow 3D Scans for Lighter Prints

Scans saved in the Polygon File Format by phone apps, desktop scanners and MeshLab capture real objects as dense solid meshes. Hollow PLY repairs the scan if it is open, splits it at the height chosen, from the middle by default, and empties both halves to the wall thickness set. A 2 mm lip on the bottom fits a groove on the top, so a scanned rock, bust or ornament becomes a box with a secret compartment. Two files come back, the top on its cut face, each a 3D Print STL File ready for 3D printing in StarForge 3D Modeling Software, with nothing uploaded.
