Older CAD and CAM programs that accept IGES, the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification, rarely open COLLADA. The DAE to IGES Converter saves a Digital Asset Exchange mesh as IGES right in the browser, at no cost and without uploading. The output is a faceted mesh in IGES, never a true parametric surface model, so it is for reference and placement. SketchUp and game geometry can reach legacy CAD this way.
