Autodesk 3D Studio and VRML, the Virtual Reality Modeling Language, both date from the 1990s, and many old web and education projects paired them. The 3DS to VRML Converter writes a 3DS mesh as a .wrl VRML file in the browser, free, with no upload. Legacy viewers and full color print services that ask for VRML can then use old 3DS content.
