Checking or repairing an old 3DS model in MeshLab or CloudCompare starts with Stanford's Polygon File Format. The 3DS to PLY Converter writes the Autodesk 3D Studio mesh as PLY inside the browser, free, with nothing uploaded. Legacy models can then be measured, cleaned or compared with scans. Keyframe animation from 3D Studio is not kept. StarForge 3D Modeling Software can also save the 3DS as a 3D Print STL File for 3D printing.
