Autodesk 3D Studio files are a binary chunk format that many current programs import poorly, while Wavefront OBJ is read nearly everywhere. The 3DS to OBJ Converter rewrites a 3DS model as OBJ inside the browser, free and without uploading. Old library models can then be cleaned in Blender, sculpted in ZBrush or rendered.
