Covered in large, deeply cut scales, this cherry barb fish swims forward with a torpedo body, a forked tail and rounded, finely rayed fins. A lateral line runs along the flank, and the head shows a ringed eye, full lips and small barbel tips at the mouth. The tall dorsal fin and sweeping tail are sculpted with crisp grooves that catch light well.
